If you’re in town for Memorial Day, there’s plenty to do to keep the kids busy and make the most of your vacation! Make sure to check out these local happenings:
S’mores on the Shore: Gulf Place on May 26 at 6 pm
Campfires, music, and s’mores will be the scene as the City of Gulf Shores hosts S’mores on the Shore on Thursday, May 26. The fun is set to begin at 6 p.m. and will take place at Gulf Place, 101 Gulf Shores Parkway. This family-friendly event includes free s’mores packets, a live DJ, and a balloon artist on site. Families are encouraged to bring their blankets, chairs, and friends and relax on the beautiful, white sand of the Gulf Shores Public Beach
Beach Ball Drop: The Wharf on May 27 from 3 pm until 7 pm
Come to The Wharf to watch more than 4,000 beach balls drop from the sky! The kids’ activities, sponsored by Beachball Properties, include a surf simulator, bouncy house, bubble zone, rock wall, face painting, camel rides, and more! The beach balls drop around 4:30 and there’s a designated area for kids 5 and under. Be sure to check your balls for a letter and stop by The Wharf tent, because you might be a lucky winner of some prizes! Stick around to see the SPECTRA Laser Light Experience.
Memorial Day Fireworks: OWA May 28 at 8:50 pm
Head to OWA for a specular fireworks show. Patriotic fireworks will go off at 8:50 pm sharp and can be seen in the air over Downtown OWA and Tropic Falls Theme Park.
Paradise Island 5K: May 29 at Orange Beach SportsPlex
Looking to get in a little exercise on your vacation? Sign up for the 5th Annual Paradise Island 5k at the SportsPlex in Orange Beach. The 5K certified course is on the paved nature trail with no motorized traffic and takes you through multiple trails along the Backcountry Trail.
Sparks After Dark: The Wharf on May 30 from 6 pm until 9 pm
Come early and enjoy a live, kid-friendly cooking class in Palms Plaza with Rouses Markets’ Chef Nino, then stick around to dance to the rhythm of the beat with DJ Silky, ride a camel and see the fireworks and SPECTRA Laser Light Experience.
